American Cancer Society Relay for Life
Held annually at the Oxford High School Stadium

Relay For Life is a 24-hour team event to raise money for cancer research, education, and services. RFL combines the best elements of a camp-out, block party, and walk-a-thon. Teams of 8-15 people set up campsite and take turns walking the track relay style to raise money and demonstrate their commitment to the fight against cancer.

Interested and involved citizens from across the Oxford school district have come together to form the Oxford Area Vision Project. (The Oxford school district includes East Nottingham Twp, Elk Twp, Lower Oxford Twp, Oxford Borough, Upper Oxford Twp, and West Nottingham Twp.)

The “OAVP” has been established to host an exchange team of international professionals who brought an objective perspective to the Oxford area. The “exchange team” spent one week observing our community. The team presented its observations to the community in a public meeting. This is a unique opportunity for the whole community to come together to “find common ground” within the borough and the townships. Read the executive summary outlining the observations.

The Oxford Babe Ruth will be beginning it's first season in 2006. Boys and Girls ages 5 - 18 will begin play against other Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken leagues in Chester County.

Ox-Grove Democrats

The official institution representing the national, state and county Democratic Party in the region, the Ox-Grove Democrats embrace the Democratic voters in the fifteen precincts that constitute Zone 5 of the county Democratic organization. The municipalities in Zone 5 are the townships of Elk, East Nottingham, Franklin, London Grove, New London, West Nottingham, Lower Oxford and Penn and the boroughs of Oxford and West Grove.

The task of the Ox-Grove Democrats is to register Democratic voters, to identify qualified Democratic candidates to run for office, to promote progressive causes and to elect folk who will implement them. We enjoy each other's company, we disagree amicably and we are currently dedicated to the defeat of George W. Bush. Zone meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 at the Penn Township building on Lewis Road (across from the Y). Any registered Democratic voter in the region is welcome to attend.

Upper Chesapeake Community Band

Upper Chesapeake Community Band is an all ages / all volunteer concert and marching band meeting on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 at St. Agnus Catholic Church on Queen Street in Rising Sun, MD.  Some members just march, some just do concerts, and many do both. 

We have several members from the Oxford and Nottingham areas.  We are looking for new members for all instruments, but some particular needs at the moment are: 1st flute, oboe, 3rd clarinet, French horn, Baritone , Tuba, and Percussion.
